How do I measure my area?
We suggest taking a moment to read through this guide to help you understand how to measure your area.
We recommend adding an extra 25cm to your measurements to ensure you have enough product for your project.
- Our products come in 2, 2.3, 4 or 4.6 meter widths and can be cut to your specified length, up to a maximum of 25 meters.
- All our artificial grasses have a “pile direction,” which typically runs along the length of the roll.
- When measuring, make sure all your pieces have the pile direction running in the same direction for a consistent look.

- The green represents a lawn.
- The green arrows and dotted lines indicate the “pile direction,” which I interpret as the direction of the grass blades or the optimal viewing orientation for the lawn (e.g., how the grass is laid out or best seen).
- The red arrows show the size of the lawn: 4 meters + 3.5 meters = 7.5 meters wide (W) and 7 meters long (L).
- The pile direction is always the best viewing point, suggesting that the green arrows point toward the optimal direction to view or appreciate the lawn’s appearance, possibly due to how the grass or pile is oriented.
To calculate the size of this lawn, 7m x 7m equals 49m². However, since the grass rolls are 2 & 4 meters wide, you’ll need to adjust the dimensions to fit the roll size. For example, you’ll add a 4-meter width into the garden, resulting in a layout of 4m + 3.5m wide by 7m long. This is because the rolls are only available in 4-meter widths.
For this product, which comes in 2m or 4m widths, you would need to order two sections of 4m x 7.25m totaling 58m².
Triangular lawn Diagram B2
To calculate the size of this triangular lawn, you first need to know the width, which in this case is 6 meters. Since the grass comes in 4m and 2m widths, this will work out better for your needs. However, to measure it correctly, you need to identify where the join will occur.
Start by measuring 4m wide x 5.75m long (adding an extra 0.25m). The 2m wide sections, however, are not as long as the 4m sections. (see diagram) While the 4m sections are 5.75m long, the 2m wide sections only measure 4.25m in length at their longest point.
The triangular lawn size only 23.25m2 but you need to order 4m x 5.75 & 2m x 4.25m = 31.50m2
Irregular Shape Lawn Diagram C3
To calculate the size of this lawn C3, you first need to know the width, which is 6 meters at the top near the house and 9 meters at the bottom. Since the grass comes in 4m and 2m widths and the garden has an irregular shape, it can be tricky to measure accurately. However, to measure it correctly, you need to determine where the join will occur.
In this case, the join is at the 4m and 8m marks. You’ll need to order two sections: 4m x 9.25m and 4m x 10.45m. Additionally, you’ll need an off-cut from the same roll, measuring 1m x 5m (shown in blue on the diagram). This off-cut is included within the roll (see the blue dashed line in the diagram).
So, to order the grass for this lawn, you’ll need to order 4m x 9.25m and 4m x 10.45m to complete the installation of the garden.
Oval-Shape Lawn Diagram D4
To calculate the size of lawn D4, you first need to know the width, which is 7 meters, and the length, which is 11m + 0.25m to be safe, giving a total of 11.25m. Since the grass comes in 4m and 2m widths and the garden has an oval shape, measuring accurately can be hard. However, to measure correctly, you need to determine where the join will occur.
In this case, there is one join at the 4m width mark, with a layout of 4m + 3m. To complete the lawn installation, you’ll need to order two sections: 4m x 11.25m and 4m x 11.25m.

To calculate the size of lawn E5, you first need to know the width, which is 9 meters, and the length, which is 7m + 0.25m to be safe, giving a total of 7.25m. Since the grass comes in 4m and 2m widths and there’s a path running through the garden, measuring accurately can be very hard. However, to measure correctly, you need to determine where the join will occur and identify any off-cuts that could help save on grass.
In this case, the join is at the 4m mark from each edge, leaving a 1m center piece. You’ll need to order two sections: 4m x 7.25m and 4m x 7.25m. Additionally, you’ll need an off-cut from the same roll, measuring 1m x 3m (shown with a blue line on the diagram). This off-cut is included within the roll (see the blue dashed line in the diagram).
